One Day Workshop on “Continuous/Online Monitoring Systems for Industrial Wastewater” at CPCB for presenting the German expert’s findings/recommendations

Under the Sustainable and Environment-friendly Industrial Production (SEIP) Project, a senior German Expert, Dr. Olaf Kujawski, as a part of the activity taken up on continuous/online monitoring systems for industrial wastewater, had closely worked with the CPCB officials. The expert visited Delhi and Vapi (Gujarat) worked with CPCB officials to observe and examine the existing installation of online monitoring systems for industrial wastewater in Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) and Industries.
Based on the information from field visits and inspection of installations in CETPs and industries, the expert conducted a workshop on the 27th March 2017 at the CPCB Conference Hall together with the section officers of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPBC). During the workshop, the expert presented and discussed the following information with CPCB:
- Experiences from Germany (Guidelines, Directives, Equipment, Systems etc.)
- Important aspects of Online Monitoring Systems (Parameters, Analysers, Operations and Maintenance etc.)
- Observations and suggestions on the existing guidelines in India
- Suggestions for a new directive on Online Monitoring Systems in India
CPCB officials had detailed discussions with the expert and internal team over different aspects of continuous/online monitoring systems. CPCB appreciated the detailed information presented by the German expert and discussed the challenges being faced on the existing continuous online monitoring systems.
The workshop was followed by a meeting with the Chairman, CPCB to inform the highlights of the workshop on continuous/online monitoring systems wherein the Chairman appreciated the GIZ’s support on this topic and requested for a final report with expert‘s findings and recommendations.
