Planning Workshop on Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production in Industrial Units

As part of the GIZ’s Sustainable and Environmental-friendly Industrial Production (SEIP) Progamme, the kick-off meeting and planning workshop for the project on Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) in industrial units was organized from 22nd February till 24th February at TERI-Gram, Gual Pahari, Gurgaon.  The RECP project will implement resource efficiency and cleaner production solutions that provide environmental benefits along with increased productivity and cost savings for enterprises in industrial areas including DSIIDC’s Lawrence Road, Patparganj and Okhla Industrial areas, Delhi, GIDC‘s Industrial Estate, Vapi, Gujarat, and SIIDCUL’s Integrated Industrial Estate, Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The project will introduce RECP to 150 industrial units out of which 40 will receive detailed consulting support from national and international experts to implement RECP measures and the corresponding savings for different resources will be measured.

Team of consultants from the RECP project consortium including adelphi, TERI, STENUM Asia and AREC along with officials from GIZ discussed and agreed upon the methodological approach to create awareness, assess potential of RECP and suggest implementable solutions. The project will focus on solutions that require limited investment but lead to cost savings and improvement in environmental quality through reduced pollution and resource wastage, thereby contributing the overall objectives of the SEIP progamme. The overall plan for organizing several events, multiple workshops and industrial visits over the duration of the RECP project was jointly prepared during this meeting.
