All India Environmental Journalism Competition award winners felicitated at IFAT India 2015

Maharashtra State Minister for Water Resources and Water Conservation, Shri Vijay Shivtare honoured the winners of the All India Environmental Journalism Competition 2015 at IFAT India - India’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, refuse and recycling. The Minister, together with Mr. Michel Siebert, Counsel General of German Consulate in Mumbai, Mr. Frank Samol of GIZ India, Mr. Emani Kumar of ICLEI South Asia and Mr. Igor Palka of IFAT organisers Messe München International handed over mementos, certificates and cheques to the award winners in the print, internet and video category.
A Media Colloquium on “Sustainable Urban and Industrial Development: Not a Pipe Dream” was also organized as part of IFAT India side event. Ms. Malini Shankar, Principal Secreatry, Department of Environment, Government of Maharashtra; Mr. Darryl D’Monte, Chairperson and founder of Forum of Environmental Journalist in India; Mr. Emani Kumar, Executive Director, ICLEI South Asia, Ms. Pradnya Thakur, Director, Shashwat Eco Solution Foundation; Mr. Frank Samol and Ms. Vaishali Nandan from GIZ India were the key speakers.
The colloquium enabled media, government bodies, civil society organsiatons and private sector to share their experiences and views on issues, challenges and opportunities in water, sewage, refuse and recycling in India. The event provided an opportunity for visitors from industries/business groups at IFAT India to understand the issue from perspective of media and government.
