Training on Presentation and Communication Skills to Mid-level Management Officials

GIZ has conducted training for the mid-level management officials of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd. (APIIC) on May 15-16, 2014 on Presentation and Communication Skills. The training was conducted by Ms Anita Stogel, an international expert from Germany.

The training session on May 15, 2014 started with discussions on the brand APIIC and goals of APIIC. There was an interactive session where participants were asked to share their thoughts on “Vision of APIIC”. The most voted phrase was;

“We are Enabling Business for a Sustainable Quality of Life for Everybody”

Further, there was an interactive session where participants were asked about typical APIIC presentation / negotiation scenarios and two major scenarios were considered for group activity in the afternoon session.

The afternoon session was on communication skills, where Ms. Anita Stogel explained about the basics of communication skills, which includes the sender-receiver model and transactional analysis that talks about the behaviour of an individual as a child, adult or parent during communications. This was followed by presentation on negotiations.

The final session was a group activity on earlier discussed two major scenarios and they were;

  • Negotiation with other Government bodies for approvals and funds
  • Providing infrastructure with IALA/other funds

The final session on May 15, 2014 ended with feedback from participants. The participants gave good feedback on the training programme.

The training session on May 16, 2014 was on communication skills, where Ms. Anita Stogel has explained about the elements of successful presentations / negotiations, which includes the pareto principle. This was followed by presentation by each participant for a minute.

In the evening session, f explanation was given by Ms. Anita on project development and later on a group activity was conducted where participants developed and presented the projects on given topics:

  • Conception of a 100 km street with in an industrial park
  • Planning of a new Green Industrial Park

The two day training on presentation and communication skills ended with feedback from participants. The participants gave good feedback on the training programme.
