Press-launch for the Create to Inspire youth and school program

The press-launch for the Create to Inspire youth and school program, an initiative of Nokia and GIZ was held on the 9th of December 2013 at Jhaal Farezi, an old Kolkata bungalow now renovated into cafe and art-space and was attended by the media and different partners. Create to Inspire is an out of the box program for youth in Kolkata to create campaigns using creative arts on the judicious consumption and management of water, energy, transport and e-waste. The development partnership between NOKIA and GIZ is part of the develoPPP.de programme that GIZ is implementing on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).  The event was covered by The Telegraph, The Times of India and The Statesman and also Bartaman, Kolkata TV, News Time, Channel 10 and some bloggers as well. The event also showcased few recycle art installations by students of Akshar School. GIZ was represented by Dr. Dieter Mutz, Director GIZ-IGEP and Dr. Ashish Chaturvedi Senior Technical Advisor GIZ-IGEP while Nokia was represented by Mr. Kislay Kumar, Director (East), Nokia India and Mr. Pranshu Singhal, Sustainability Head, Nokia India. The selected fellows will be mentored by the following:

  • Photography – Swarup Dutta
  • RJing – Mir
  • Music – Neel Adhikari
  • Dance – Sudarshan Chakravorty
  • Theatre – Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee
  • Public Art Installation – Iftekhar Ahsan
