Launching of “Industrial Environmental Improvement Drive”

Dr. (Mrs.) J. Geeta Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Major Industries, Sugar, Commerce and Export Promotion, Government of Andhra Pradesh launched the Industrial Environmental Improvement Drive at Mindspace, which is located under the Cyberabad Zone of APIIC. On the occasion, present were Mr. Jayesh Ranjan I.A.S, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of APIIC, Mr. NVS Reddy, Managing Director, Hyderabad Metro Rail, Mr. M.T. Krishna Babu, I.A.S, GHMC Commissioner, Mr. C.V. Anand, IPS Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, Mr. VVS Laxman, former Indian cricket player, Dr. C. Sreedhar, Executive Director of APIIC and Mr. K. Dharma Reddy, Executive Director of APIIC.
On the eve of the World Environment Day, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd. (APllC), in technical cooperation with GIZ (IGEP), initiated the one month long "Industrial Environmental Improvement Drive" in about 75 selected Industrial Parks of APIIC spread across all 15 zones in Andhra Pradesh. The one-month long drive includes:
- awareness programme on various environmental aspects including eco-profit concepts and self-resource auditing through interactive meets with the environmental subject specialists
- cleaning solid wastes and storm water drains in the above selected Industrial Parks,
- Planting about 1.00 lakh plants in the above selected Industrial Parks;
- Awards for best Industrial Parks performing during the Drive; and
- Awareness campaign on environmental aspects.
All the 15 zones of APIIC have celebrated the World Environmental day with environmental rallies and meetings with fellow industries in their respective zones.
The program began with a speech by Mr. Jayesh Ranjan, VC & MD of APIIC. He has appreciated the contributions made by GIZ and also mentioned that GIZ is the prime partner for the one-month long Environment Improvement Drive along with the support from the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board. Dr. (Mrs.) Geeta Reddy, Hon’ble Minister mentioned that there is good support from the German government, which needs to be utilised and also mentioned that Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh are going international with the support from the German government.
Earlier, Mrs. Geeta Reddy flagged-off an event on “Cycle to Work”, where more than 100 cyclists participated in the event. This was followed by inauguration of cycle track at Cyberabad and AC Bus Stand at Madhapur.
