Ecological Planning: Practice and Perspectives in India and Germany
The fourth IGEP Dialogue was held on the topic of “Ecological Planning: Practice and Perspectives in India and Germany” on May 16, 2013. Dr GV Subrahmanyam, Advisor, Ministry of Environment and Forests; and Mr Burghard Rauschelbach, Expert on Environmental Planning and Resource Management for Development Cooperation Projects were the main speakers.
Dr GV Subrahmanyam focused on the existing legislation in India with regards to Environment Impact Assessment and also highlighted some positive stories on revival and renewal of green cover. Mr Rauschlelbach brought to fore some effective practices from Germany which looked at environmental aspects, such as Der Blau Engel (Blue Angel). He also gave examples of some detrimental practices in that regard.
