Capacity Development

Capacity Building is an important element of the IGEP programme. It entails developing tools and methodologies for improving the planning, designing, and monitoring of the training and capacity building programmes; supporting the identified training institutes in planning and delivery of trainings as well as assessment of their effectiveness and impact; developing training materials and handbooks; and disseminating information about the projects activities and their impacts.

Objective

To strengthen the institutional capacities and human resources of stakeholders in the environment sector catering to sustainable urban and industrial development.

Guiding Principles

  • Capacity building is geared to enhance the awareness of institutions/organisations where environment issues are of concern.
  • The training measures are demand-driven and custom-made catering to the needs of various pilots and activities of IGEP.
  • For the component areas, capacity building is embedded into the strategic programme and ad hoc addition of stand alone training measures is avoided.
